Leadership Greater Hartford Hosts 2021 Polaris Awards
The 2021 Polaris Awards will be hosted virtually on Thursday, October 28th from 6-7pm. Polaris honors exemplary leaders who serve as guiding lights in our region. This year's honorees are: Herb Virgo, of the Keney Park Sustainability Project, Carl Hardrick, of the Wilson Gray YMCA and Hartford Communities That Care, UHart's Entrepreneurial Center & Women's Business Center's Women of Color in Business Series, and Jason Jakubowski, of Connecticut Foodshare. Chrysalis Center Annual Butterfly Bash will be held virtually on Friday, October 22, 2021, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The event is the signature fundraising event for Chrysalis Center, raising much needed funds to advance the organization’s mission to provide supportive services to assist people in need to transform their lives.
This year’s theme is “Celebrating the Beauty of Transformation”, and the event celebrates the critical work Chrysalis Center does every day to help transform the lives of more than 1500 individuals across Connecticut. As one of the State’s leading organizations serving people living with mental illness and returning from homeless populations, Chrysalis Center has been working tirelessly since the onset of the pandemic to ensure clients’ needs have been met. Critical funding is needed now more than ever to help support programs and services.

The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving and Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC) are inviting small business owners in Hartford and surrounding communities to apply to the Inner City Capital Connections (ICCC) program – a tuition-free, 40-hour “mini-MBA” program that combines executive education, webinars, and coaching delivered by top-ranking university professors and local experts. ICCC is designed to help small businesses located in under-resourced communities, particularly those disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, to develop strategies that build their capacity for sustainable growth and present opportunities to connect with capital sources to create jobs locally.
