Hartford Marathon Foundation Rallies Virtual Event Participation and Donations to Support MakerspaceCT Local Production of PPE
The non-profit Hartford Marathon Foundation (HMF), which produces 30+ race events throughout southern New England, began rallying the community this month to keep active and to support an urgent local need. Forced to cancel road race events through May, HMF created the WeRunCT virtual challenge to encourage people to run or walk toward the collective goal of covering every square mile of the state - 5,018 miles. The virtual challenge kicked off April 7 and was quickly followed a few days later with a call to action to raise $5,018 to support the local efforts of MakerspaceCT in producing face shields for local healthcare heroes. The fundraiser posed the question "Can we raise as much as we run?".
