Hartford Public Library Welcomes New Chief Advancement Officer
[HARTFORD, CT] — Hartford Public Library (HPL) announced that Lucy Nalpathanchil has been named Chief Advancement Officer effective June 29. In this role, Lucy is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing a comprehensive program to support Hartford Public Library's mission. With a clear focus on Hartford communities and expanded audiences, the role includes overseeing fundraising, donor relations, marketing and communications, program coordination, and strategic partnerships.
“Lucy brings an extraordinary combination of strategic vision, community insight, relationship building, and a deep commitment to meaningful public engagement,” said Bridget E. Quinn, HPL’s President and CEO. “Throughout her career, she has cultivated partnerships, elevated important conversations, and connected institutions with the people they serve. Her leadership will be pivotal as we strengthen HPL’s long-term sustainability, expand our audiences, and advance our mission alongside Hartford communities and partners across the region.”
Most recently, Lucy was Vice President of Community Engagement at Connecticut Public, the state’s NPR and PBS station, where she shaped the company’s public-facing strategy to deepen connections statewide. In that role, Lucy created new partnerships with community organizations, civic leaders, and institutions to expand the reach and impact of Connecticut Public’s journalism. Her efforts helped garner a $3 million state grant for the media company to develop an events space in the Asylum Hill neighborhood. She spent nearly two decades at WNPR/CPTV as an award winning reporter and host.

"Since my childhood, I have loved libraries! Many of my summers were spent checking out book after book and participating in programs like summer reading challenges. I look forward to my new role in support of Hartford Public Library's mission and working to ensure its sustainability for generations to come."
Lucy says it's common for people to convey the positive impact libraries have had on them, and she shares that same sentiment. She believes libraries are vital institutions that contribute to a community's strength.
