June 9: Official Send Off Celebration for CT’s Three James Beard Finalists as They Prepare for the 2026 Awards in Chicago

Media Event to be Hosted at Mystic River Park

Considered the Oscars of the culinary world, the James Beard Awards have recognized national excellence across the hospitality industry since 1990, spotlighting the chefs, restaurants, and hospitality leaders shaping American cuisine.

On June 9, Connecticut will formally send off its three James Beard Finalists - Chef David Standridge of The Shipwright’s Daughter (Outstanding Chef), Chef David DiStasi of Materia Ristorante (Best Chef, Northeast) and Jade Ayala & her team at The Port of Call (Outstanding Wine and Other Beverage Program) as they head to Chicago for the 2026 James Beard Restaurant & Chef Awards Ceremony taking place on June 15. Connecticut talent has been consistently represented in recent years and 2026 is no different, proving the state’s culinary scene is a serious force on the national stage.

This event is in partnership with the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce, Northwest Connecticut Chamber of Commerce and the Litchfield Economic Development Commission.
