Something Special is Happening in Hartford | Hartford Promise’s 2026 Power of Promise Luncheon

(September 24, 2026) - Yesterday, the stage at The Bushnell was filled with people who believe in Hartford’s students, and in what is possible when talent is met with opportunity.

At Hartford Promise’s Power of Promise Luncheon, community leaders, educators, business partners, supporters, and Hartford Promise Scholars came together to celebrate the achievements of Hartford’s young people and explore what the American Dream can look like for the next generation.

Featuring Trinity College President Daniel Lugo, who challenged the audience to think differently about opportunity, success, and the possibilities available to today’s students. Hartford Promise also honored Dr. Walter Harrison, President Emeritus of the University of Hartford, with its inaugural Lifetime Educational Impact Award in recognition of his extraordinary commitment to education and students.

But the heart of the afternoon was Hartford Promise Scholars.

Their stories remind us that the American Dream doesn’t have to be one dream, defined by someone else. It can be as unique and ambitious as the young person pursuing it.

Our responsibility as a community is to make sure Hartford’s students have the opportunity, support, and community they need to pursue that dream, and to build a future that is their own.
