St. Vincent’s Launches Groundbreaking Program – First-in-the-State Postpartum Rehab Program

Transforming Recovery for Women After C-Sections and High-Risk Births

Hartford HealthCare announced a first-of-its kind specialized care in the state to women recovering from a cesarean section or a traumatic birth.

First Days: Postpartum Rehabilitation is offered by Hartford HealthCare Rehabilitation Network perinatal therapists - first launched at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport.

The expert care is provided immediately after childbirth - from bedside to outpatient setting. The focus is on reducing post-partum complications and to support a faster recovery. The therapy includes safe movement, walking, scar management and pain relief.

This is a system-wide initiative, now underway at St. Vincent’s Family Birthing Center.
