The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving Commits $1M to Power the Artists of Color Accelerator (AOCA)
Big news: The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has committed $1 million over the next two years to power the Artists of Color Accelerator (AOCA) here at The 224 EcoSpace.
AOCA provides mentorship, resources, and community that fuel artists of color to grow their work, amplify their voices, and keep Hartford’s creative scene bold, diverse, and thriving. With three cohorts already shaping culture, we’re gearing up to welcome the fourth in early 2026.
“This commitment is a testament to the powerful vision and resilience of our artists,” says Lydell Brown, CEO of The 224. “AOCA continues to transform lives and strengthen Hartford’s cultural fabric.”
The Hartford Foundation also awarded a $50,000 appreciation grant to The Conference of Churches, recognizing its continued leadership and impact through The 224 EcoSpace.
