Colin McEnroe to headline USJ’s inaugural Critical Concerns Visiting Writers Series

WEST HARTFORD, Connecticut -- Columnist and radio show host Colin McEnroe will be the guest speaker at the University of Saint Joseph’s inaugural Critical Concerns Visiting Writers Series on Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.

In his lecture, “This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Quadrangles – or Can We?” McEnroe will use USJ’s iconic quadrangle as a jumping off place to talk about the quest by writers and thinkers to make order out of chaos, about how chaos seems to have gotten the upper hand, about what we can do.

This is the flagship event of USJ’s First-Year Writing Program.

“Every fall, a local public intellectual and writer will visit campus to meet with First-Year English students during the day and give a public lecture in the evening, discussing the value of critical thinking and writing to their career path and to fostering a more mindful, compassionate, and service-driven community,” said Assistant Professor of English and Director of the First-Year Writing Aidan Levy.

In addition to hosting "The Colin McEnroe Show" on CT Public, McEnroe is a newspaper columnist, magazine writer, author, and playwright. His writing has appeared in The New York Times, the Hartford Courant, many Hearst newspapers, Men’s Health, Cosmopolitan, and Forbes FYI.

This event is supported by the NEH Humanities and Arts Fund at the University of Hartford and is free and open to the community.
