Senior Counsel Joins Harris Beach Murtha’s Commercial Real Estate Team
(Oct. 16, 2025) — Experienced Senior Counsel Joshua L. Woods has joined Harris Beach Murtha’s growing Commercial Real Estate Practice Group to assist commercial developers, institutional lenders, corporations, partnerships, nonprofits and other businesses with commercial development needs in the Hartford and Boston areas.
As a member of our Commercial Real Estate team, Josh helps with the development, finance, sale, purchase and leasing of commercial real estate. The team regularly works with clients that own shopping centers, hospitals, colleges, schools, office parks, industrial projects, retail developments and more.
Josh has significant commercial real estate experience representing institutional lenders and private equity firms, from negotiating and drafting operative and ancillary loan documents to reviewing due diligence and title work and conducting closings. Furthermore, he routinely drafts and negotiates swap documents, commercial leases, purchase agreements, asset sale agreements, stock purchase agreements and loan agreements for loan forgiveness pursuant to federal grant perimeters.

Prior to joining private practice, Josh served as general manager and attorney for a small business, where he managed 30 employees across multiple locations. He researched potential locations for company expansion, reviewed and negotiated commercial leases, assisted with franchise agreements and audited franchisees to ensure compliance.
Josh recently appeared in the latest Best Lawyers as a Ones to Watch, and was a Super Lawyers, Connecticut Rising Star in 2024 and 2025.
